Too Much Cowbell

Standard

There are so many things that I love about the summer in Lesotho, namely the warm weather, tanning potential, gardening and long daylight hours.  The only downside to the longer hours of daylight is that the sun comes up earlier, therefore the workday begins earlier and chores can commence at sunrise.  With that said, there is a herdboy who leads his caravan of cattle in front of my house everyday as early as 5am and no later than 5:30am.  My daily alarm is the jingling, not so melodic, jangle of 15-20 cowbells.  I haven’t actually gotten out of bed to count how many cows there actually are, but my astute ear has since deciphered that guestimate.  It would be so much more pleasant if the cowbells could be tuned to a chord or something…or maybe I could train the cows in such a way that when they walked their ringing would create a song.  Wishful thinking, I know.  Hey!  At least when I wake up this early I have the maximum amount of daylight hours to spend in my garden, workout, read outside and enjoy life.
